Relief Social Care Assistant (Day or Night duty)

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis

£15.88 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours, where appropriate

The Glaitness Centre is located in Kirkwall and comprises purpose built Supported Accommodation, respite service, and a day care facility for people with physical disabilities. This relief role will be allocated to working in all parts of the service. Relief Social Care Assistant Nights will work wake -in nights and will be lone working.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are able to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. The role will require you to adopt a person-centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Accommodation and Respite property. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach, aiding them to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities.

Applicants should hold an SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or other equivalent level qualification accepted by SSSC for registration, or where the essential qualification is not held, should be able to achieve this within 3 years of appointment.

Successful candidates must also register with SSSC, as a Support Worker in a Care Home Service for Adults/Housing Support and Care at Home Service within 3 months of appointment.
