Relief Social Care Co-ordinator, Shift working over seven days

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£20.70 per hour (including Shift Allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our small office team based in Kirkwall. As a SCC you will play a vital role in the provision of Care at Home services on Orkney Mainland and throughout the Isles. You will support our small geographically based teams to ensure the delivery of a high-quality Care at Home service to people who use our services.

You will work with individual service users, partner agencies and families to develop person-centred support packages that will ensure that the individual’s personal care and domestic support requirements are fully met, with goals clearly identified, in line with the reablement ethos.

You will have active participation in quality control systems such as observing staff practice, reviewing of care packages, and auditing of files. Alongside the SCCs the ASCC play an important role in the induction of new staff and are actively involved in the delivery of relevant in-house training.

In order to fulfil the duties required of this role you will be competent in:

• Implementation and ongoing co-ordination of high quality support packages
• Keeping up to date with current best practice and legislation
• Proven organisation and communication skills
• Adapting and working flexibly in a constantly pressured environment

You should hold an SVQ4 (SCQF9) in Social Services and Health care.

OR, where this is not held, you should hold another Practice qualification that meets the SSSC registration requirements as a Supervisor in a Care at Home Service i.e. HNC in Health and Social Care, SVQ3 (SCQF7) in Health and Social Care AND a Supervisory qualification that meets the SSSC registration requirements as a Supervisor in a Care at Home Service, or requirement to achieve this within first period of registration.

You should also be registered with or successfully complete registration with the SSSC as a Supervisor in a care at home service within first six months of taking up post.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
