Orkney Health and Social Care Partnership is committed to improving outcomes for our children, young people and families, and to delivering Scotland’s Promise.
We are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to the post of Service Manager (Authority Wide Services) within the Children and Families team, with specific responsibility for our fostering, adoption, kinship, residential (including residential short-breaks) and reviewing services along with a responsibility for improvement and Quality Assurance.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with considerable experience of working within a children and families setting. You will also have skills, or show potential ability, in leadership and management and will be willing to take on the challenge of managing all aspects of the Authority Wide Service within the Children and Families Service.
You will provide leadership and ongoing management support across the full range of the Children and Families Service and will be responsible to the Head of Service (Children, Families and Justice Services). This is a significant role within the Children Services management structures.
In addition, the Service Manager will have the ability to support and develop staff to ensure services are delivered to the highest standard and will be a key contributor to the broader development of Social Work services in Orkney. We have invested time and finances into our approaches, including developing social pedagogy and systemic practice along with an ambition to be trauma informed across the service. We are committed to encouraging and supporting our staff to develop their career through local and national training opportunities and have a continuing professional development pathway which focuses on supporting Social Workers to progress their professional knowledge and skill in line with their personal aspirations.
We are seeking someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills who has the ability to manage change and can evidence managing multidisciplinary teams. You will demonstrate a record of success in the delivery of organisational change and partnership working, will be qualified in Social Work (degree, post graduate diploma or equivalent) and be registered with the SSSC.
Living in Orkney brings its own benefits, being an archipelago of 70 beautiful islands, of which 17 are inhabited.
