Orkney has a rich heritage with 5000 years of innovation stretching from its neolithic past to its world leading position in the field of marine and renewable energy. As Sustainable Regeneration Funding Manager you will be based in Orkney and one of the first appointments of a new team within Orkney Islands Council.

You should be ambitious, enthusiastic and committed to sustainable development and the transition to net zero. You will use your knowledge and experience from previous roles and sectors to help shape the development and improvement of the wider Council services. You will be ambitious to achieve positive outcomes for the Orkney community and driven to work collaboratively to identify, secure and manage current and new funding and investment opportunities.

The Levelling Up Fund through the UK Government including UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the UK/Scottish Government funded Islands Growth Deal will provide direct investment into Orkney along with the opportunity to leverage additional funding.
You will be responsible for project managing these funds whilst working collaboratively and proactively with colleagues and wider partners to develop and submit new large multi-disciplinary funding bids.

Identifying other potential sources of project funding will be key including establishing systems/processes to manage these. Building on our islands advantage you will have the opportunity to explore and take forward other routes of fundraising and investment.

Your proactive approach and support will be welcomed across the Council as well as across the Orkney Community Partnership and colleagues working in our universities, businesses, third and voluntary sectors.

You should either hold a qualification in a relevant subject at SCQF 8/9 i.e. SVQ4, HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship, Technical Apprenticeship OR have a minimum of 5 years previous relevant experience.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
