We are looking for a compassionate, organised and customer-focused individual to join our Bereavement Services team.
This role offers the opportunity to support individuals and communities at sensitive times while helping to deliver safe, respectful and professional cemetery and crematorium services.
A key aspect of the position will be providing administrative and customer service support for the Council's Memorial Safety Programme, helping ensure memorials across our cemeteries remain safe while treating families with dignity, sensitivity and understanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high-quality, accessible bereavement service with dignity, empathy and professionalism.
- Act as a professional first point of contact for families, funeral directors, stonemasons, community groups and colleagues.
- Provide clear information and guidance on bereavement services, memorial matters and cemetery regulations while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support the administration and delivery of the Memorial Safety Programme, including correspondence with families, record management and appointment coordination.
- Assist with communications and engagement activities to ensure families are informed and supported throughout the memorial inspection process.
- Support the safe, compliant and respectful operation of cemeteries and crematoria.
- Undertake administrative duties including record keeping, bookings, data management and statutory documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Council policies and industry best practice.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of the service.
