Perth & Kinross Council is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and partnership-focused individual to lead and coordinate our work to tackle child poverty through employability, skills and wider poverty reduction initiatives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team delivering high-profile programmes that support families to improve their incomes, access employment, and overcome barriers to opportunity.
The successful candidate will lead the delivery and development of employability support for parents and families, while helping to shape wider approaches to tackling poverty and inequality across Perth and Kinross. Working closely with colleagues, community organisations, employers and partner agencies, you will coordinate projects that connect people with the right support at the right time.
As well as leading our Child Poverty Employability Team, the role will contribute to the ongoing development of innovative approaches including community-based employability support, family-focused services, the emerging One Stop Shop model, and wider poverty prevention initiatives. You will play a key role in bringing partners together, developing new projects, securing funding opportunities and ensuring services are aligned around the needs of local people.
This role would suit someone with experience of partnership working, project management, service development, employability, regeneration, economic inclusion or community planning who is passionate about making a difference for families and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Child Poverty Employability Team.
- Develop and coordinate initiatives that support parents into, within and towards employment.
- Work collaboratively across Council services, community planning partners and third sector organisations.
- Support the development of innovative poverty reduction and preventative approaches.
- Coordinate projects and programmes linked to local child poverty priorities.
- Monitor performance, outcomes and funding requirements.
- Develop strong referral pathways and partnership arrangements.
- Represent Perth & Kinross Council at local and regional partnership groups.
- Contribute to the development of future funding bids, service design and policy development.

Skills & Experience Required
You Will Have
- Experience of leading projects, programmes or services within employability, poverty reduction, regeneration or community development.
- Experience of working effectively in partnership across multiple agencies.
- Strong communication, influencing and relationship management skills.
- Experience of performance management, reporting and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work strategically whilst delivering operational outcomes.
- A commitment to reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for children, families and communities.
