Pullar House, Perth
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Zero Waste (strategy) team and help contribute to our statutory waste diversion and recycling obligations set by the Scottish Government/UK Government.
You will help deliver Circular Economy (Scotland) Bill strategies and targets, play a vital role in the Zero Waste strategy team and contribute to the smooth running and development of waste & recycling services.
Your focus will be within the Commercial Waste Team, proactively bringing in new customers to the service whilst carrying out day-to-day contract management of existing customers.
You will help ensure we have an efficient and effective collection of waste and recycling from approximately 1700 customers.
Working closely with others in the Zero Waste Team and our in-house Operations Team you will help shape services, problem solve and assist customers to set up waste collections in line with current and/or upcoming legislation.
You will also have responsibility for permits at Household Waste & Recycling Centres as well as bin & skip collection services for businesses. Other elements will include strategy and development of income streams and services.
You will communicate effectively to all stakeholders such as customers, Operations, Politicians, Planners and others in the Waste Industry.
This role involves dealing with customers, stakeholder and Political enquiries as well as an element of project and development work. Some of the work will require forging close links with communities and individuals to ensure that the use of recycling services available are maximised.
For purposes of connection and collaboration with colleagues and with the community we serve, our full-time employees work on site for a minimum of 2 days per week with the arrangements for part time employees being agreed on a basis which will ensure that they benefit to an equivalent degree.

Requirements
Essential
• Educated to HND standard or demonstrate equivalent experience in the Waste and Resources industry.
• Proven skills and experience in dealing with the public, in often challenging situations.
• Proven project delivery and management.
• Excellent ICT skills and knowledge.
• Ability to use own initiative and problem solve.
• You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
Desirable
• A good understanding of PKC/ Local Government.
• An understanding and knowledge of relevant legislation such as The Environmental Protection Act, Circular Economy (Scotland ) Bill & Waste (Scotland) Regulations.
• Experience of sales.

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and switch to different tasks easily.
• Able to work accurately with detailed information.
• Can work on your own or as part of a team, both in communities or at home, office, operational depots.
• Be able to work with sometimes challenging customers.
