We currently have opportunities available for Electricians within our Housing Repairs Service.
The contractual base is Ruthvenfield Depot, Inveralmond Industrial Estate, Perth. However, as a mobile worker, you will start your working day from your home address.
At Perth & Kinross Council, our electricians play a vital role in maintaining our housing stock, ensuring all electrical installations are safe, compliant with regulations, and operating efficiently for our tenants.
Working 36 hours per week (8:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am – 1:00pm on Fridays), your duties will include:
- Planned electrical maintenance
- Day-to-day emergency and responsive repairs
- Electrical testing
- Preparing vacant properties for relet
Our Housing Repairs Service operates an out-of-hours emergency repairs service 24/7, 365 days per year, and you will be expected to take part in this rota (approximately 1 week in every 7).
You will work as part of a team of electricians and multi-trade staff, travelling across the stunning Perth and Kinross area in a Council fleet vehicle, therefore a valid driving licence is essential.
We are committed to supporting development, and as a fully qualified electrician you will be encouraged to gain further qualifications, such as Approved Electrician status.

- Nearing completion of their apprenticeship
- Currently part-way through their training (with support available to complete qualifications)

Skills & Experience Required
- Fully qualified electrician, or currently working towards completion of your qualification
- Experience in planned electrical maintenance
- Experience in day-to-day emergency and responsive repairs
- Experience of electrical testing
- Experience preparing vacant properties for relet
- Knowledge of electrical regulations to ensure installations are safe, compliant and operate efficiently
- Ability to work as part of a team of electricians and other trades staff
- Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours emergency repairs rota (approximately 1 week in every 7)
- Ability to travel throughout the Perth and Kinross area
- Full, valid UK driving licence
