As an Enhanced Pupil Support Assistant you will provide high-quality support to children and young people with Additional Support Needs (ASN), enabling them to access a relevant and meaningful curriculum within the Intensive Support Provision.

At Tulloch, our Intensive Support Provision (ISP) is a nurturing and inclusive environment designed to meet the needs of children and young people with Additional Support Needs.

We work in partnership with families and professionals to provide tailored support that enables every learner to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Guided by our school values of Courage and Compassion, we strive to ensure every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in class, group, or 1:1 settings to access learning opportunities.
  • Assist with intimate care routines as required.
  • Undertake moving and handling tasks appropriate to pupils’ needs.
  • Supervise pupils during transitions, in the playground, and at school-based events.
  • Contribute to planning and assessment of learning and personal learning plans.
  • Accompany pupils to social events, transition activities, and our of school excursions.
  • Support individuals or groups during learning tasks.
  • Maintain awareness of school procedures for Child Protection, risk management, equalities, and confidentiality.
  • Engage in quality assurance and self-evaluation processes.

Please note: While this is a permanent post within Perth & Kinross Council, the specific school placement may change depending on service requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

You will ideally have knowledge and experience of working with learners with a range of additional support needs and be interested in working in an educational environment.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people with additional support needs. 

A genuine interest in the development of children, their communication, sensory needs and wellbeing is essential, and the important qualities are empathy, patience and an ability to engage with children and young people in a positive way.

Knowledge of a wide range of learning needs and how to foster positive relationships would be an advantage.

You will understand the need for confidentiality and be able to work sensitively to support learners and their families.  You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team and on your own initiative. 

You will have excellent communication skills and a positive approach to working with children.
