Main Purpose of the Role

An opportunity has arisen for someone who has recently graduated or qualified in a relevant ICT discipline (HNC minimum).

The successful candidate will assist technicians and engineers who provide ICT technical support to the Council. During the term of the post, support and guidance will be provided to help the post holder develop their technical skills, with progress reviewed regularly.

The post holder may be required to support a range of projects and workstreams, including hardware installations, desktop rollouts, Windows Operating Systems, and equipment audits.

Your main accountabilities will include:

  • Working within a team to assist in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of ICT equipment, peripherals, and standard software.
  • Providing first-line support to log, prioritise, and resolve incoming user queries and faults via the IT Helpdesk.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the Council’s ICT asset register.
  • System data input.
  • Undertaking other allocated duties as required.
  • Providing written and oral progress reports when requested.

Skills & Experience Required

Applicants will be interested in applying and developing their IT support skills and knowledge. You must be highly motivated, a good team worker, and capable of taking responsibility for challenging workloads.

Candidates must be educated to a minimum of HNC level in an appropriate ICT discipline.

As this is a development role, the successful candidate must:

  • Demonstrate a flexible approach.
  • Show a willingness to develop their skills and knowledge throughout the duration of the post.
  • Be prepared to take personal responsibility for their own professional development.
