An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT project assistant within the Online Services and Mobile Working team. This role supports the delivery and continuous improvement of digital solutions that enhance customer service and operational productivity across the Council.
You will play a key role in supporting projects that utilise key digital platforms, including Granicus (facilitates online services for MyPKC), Totalmobile (optimising productivity for field-based staff) and Power BI (supporting data-driven decision-making through interactive reporting and analytics).
Working closely with colleagues, internal stakeholders and external suppliers, you will bring a methodical and analytical approach, strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
The Role
Reporting to the IT Co-ordinator (Online Services and Mobile Working) the successful post holder will be responsible for:
- Supporting the gathering and documentation of user requirements and capturing key discussion points during stakeholder meetings.
- Documenting current ("as-is") business processes and assisting with workflow redesign to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Creating and maintaining project documentation including user stories, action logs and test plans.
- Contribute to internal user acceptance testing (UAT), logging issues and feedback for resolution.
- Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Developing clear and engaging user guides, training materials, and communications to support solution rollouts.
- Delivering training sessions and providing on-going user support to promote confident and effective adoption of new digital solutions.
- Collecting, analysing, and reporting project and performance data using tools such as Power BI and Excel to support informed decision-making.
- Organising and coordinating project activities, including meetings, workshops and short-life working groups.
- Ensuring SharePoint project folders are well-maintained and regularly updated with relevant and accurate documentation.
- Supporting the manager in producing reports, guidance, and documentation to evidence achievement of programme and project goals.
- Liaising with other Council services and partner agencies to ensure key project administration tasks are completed on time and as directed.
Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated professional who can bring a creative and positive approach to change.
You must have at least an HND level in an appropriate discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience in assisting with project delivery, providing customer support or contributing to digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience of working collaboratively in a team environment; building working relationships with others

- Requirements gathering and prioritisation, using techniques such as user stories and MoSCoW analysis.
- Business process mapping and re-engineering to support service improvement and digital transformation.
