IT Technician, Perth PKC10671
£26,241 - £28,474 Fixed Term (until 31/03/2025)
Carpenter House, Carpenter Street, Perth PH1 5GB
We are recruiting a suitably experienced individual to the post of IT Technician within the IT Service. As an IT Technician you will be allocated to work primarily within the Technical Support Team with options to work in any other technical team within IT and you will provide professional technician services supporting customers across Perth & Kinross Council.
The interview will consist of questions from a panel and a technical test. The successful candidate will be appointed depending on references and PVG check being completed. Experience of working within a Council/School environment would also be an advantage.
The successful candidate will:
•work in a team assisting in the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of ICT equipment, peripherals and standard software
•Provide first line support to log / prioritise / resolve incoming user queries and faults via an IT Helpdesk
•Assist in the maintenance of the Council’s ICT asset register. System data input
•Provide written and oral progress reports when requested
•Undertake other duties allocated as and when required.
Candidates must be educated to HNC level in an appropriate discipline or have experience in a relevant professional ICT environment.
You will be able to demonstrate:
•experience of working collaboratively in a team environment; building working relationships with others
•Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and take personal responsibility for prioritising your own workload
•Experience of dealing effectively with generally similar enquires and requests by providing technical/specialist advice and information which may require investigation, research and explanation
•Ability to communicate clearly with users who have a wide range of technical knowledge
You must have a sound technical understanding of:
•Microsoft Windows 10/11 operating systems and PCs in an enterprise environment
•Enterprise printing solutions
•Office365
Experience of the following would be an advantage:
•Supporting Android smartphones
•Supporting Audio-visual equipment
•Supporting iPads in an educational environment
•Using Active Directory & Microsoft Management Console (MMC)
•Using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
•Using Service Desk software such as Ivanti Service Desk
•Using automated call distribution (ACD) systems

The Individual

You must have a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
