Based at Breadalbane Academy, Aberfeldy
An opportunity has arisen to join Perth and Kinross Council Inclusion Service, a key service within the Education and Children's Service, with an ambitious improvement agenda focused on embedding excellent inclusive practice across our education settings.
We are recruiting a Primary Pupil Support Teacher (PPST) to help us shape and deliver support that enables children with additional support needs to learn and achieve to their potential. In this post, you will support learning for children in various schools across the Highland area of Perth and Kinross.
The PPST appointed will be expected to use their significant knowledge and skills to contribute to the identification and assessment of children with a wide range of Additional Support Needs (ASN).
You will also support and provide guidance regarding the planning and delivery of appropriate learning and teaching. You will model good practice through cooperative teaching and develop and lead collegiate sessions that together build the skills and capacity of school staff. You will also work in partnership with other specialist services to meet the needs of learners, and provide consultation opportunities to staff and parents.
The Individual
You should have significant experience of teaching within a primary mainstream setting and have an understanding of excellent inclusive practice.
You should have recent relevant experience of working with learners with ASN, and have a depth of knowledge and understanding of a range of learning differences and appropriate interventions.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate that you can work collaboratively with colleagues to assess and develop plans to support a range of learning needs.
You are also required to have a current full driving licence and access to a car, to enable you to travel between schools.
You must have a diploma / degree in Primary Education with experience in the Primary sector and have or be eligible for, full GTC Scotland registration.
