Braco Primary School
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Play Assistant to work in our nursery at Braco Primary School, to support play experiences for our children.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to work as part of our small nursery for 30 hours per week. Therefore, the ability to work as part of a team is essential, and a flexible approach to working with young children, parents/ carers and our local community is necessary.
A caring and nurturing personality is required as you will be supporting young children to play and learn.
The role will involve working closely with our Early Childhood Practitioners, Headteacher and a range of other professionals to provide the best possible outcomes for learners.
The role will involve contributing to the development, planning and implementation of appropriate experiences within a play curriculum.
For the role of Play Assistant, no entry qualifications are required, however the successful candidate will be required and supported to work towards one of the qualifications below:
- NC / HNC Early Education and Childcare.
- SVQ Level 2 or / 3 in Social Services (Children & Young People).
It is essential that you gain registration as a support worker with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Day Care of Children within 3 months of commencing employment and are responsible for maintaining annual membership.
The Individual
We are looking for someone who will be able to think ‘on their feet’ and enjoy a varied role to support children’s wellbeing and learning within a safe and inclusive environment.
The successful candidate should have a genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing.
You should also be nurturing, patient and empathetic, and have the ability to engage with children and young people.
Sensitivity and respect are also required when dealing with any care routines, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality.
