An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Principal Teacher of Guidance to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, to start from August 2025.

The successful candidate will work closely with our support team. You will have a pastoral caseload and will identify, lead and monitor the impact of targeted interventions to support attendance, wellbeing and attainment. You will build and maintain excellent relationships with pupils, parent and carers, school staff, local authority and external partners. As a guidance teacher you will also teach Personal, Social and Health Education classes.

Along with upholding the values and ethos of the school, the successful candidate will become part of our integrated team for support. Part of this role will be to show a commitment to meeting the needs of every child, by upholding the principles of GIRFEC.

This role is also an opportunity to become part of the extended leadership team at the Community School of Auchterarder, where you will contribute to our vision and whole school improvement.

About the School

The Community School of Auchterarder is an all-through school, comprising Nursery, Primary and Secondary departments serving the community of Auchterarder and surrounding district. We have a roll of approximately 1,100 children and young people across all three sectors. The school is situated in a rural location, approximately 14 miles south of Perth with good road networks to the rest of Perthshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the central belt. Our Associated Primary Schools are Aberuthven, Blackford and Dunning.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated leader who can work within our support team and across our Extended Leadership Team (ELT).
 
You will be able to demonstrate a passion for inclusion and be ready to play a key role in supporting every young person to attend school, know they are valued and have meaningful learning experiences.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate an ability to lead the delivery of targeted interventions for identified groups of young people with clear improvement outcomes. 

You should have experience of planning and delivering engaging and stimulating learning experiences which meet the needs of all learners.  

You should have a keen motivation for developing, quality assuring and self-evaluating the curriculum around health, wellbeing, safeguarding, fairness and equity.   
 
The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher, with a track record of forming and developing strong relationships and collaborative working practices.  
 
You will have excellent communication skills and have experience of professionally and positively engaging learners, families, colleagues and school partners.  
 
You will be committed to promoting our school values of happy, engaged, ambitious, respectful and trustworthy.
