The Community School of Auchterarder
An opportunity has arisen for an excellent, experienced and ambitious leader to join our Extended Leadership Team as a Principal Teacher of Intensive Support.
This is a new position and initially, will support the establishment of an Intensive Support Provision (ISP) and lead the ISP staff team on an ongoing basis. It is anticipated that two classes will be established in 2026 – one Primary and one Secondary - and move into the permanent base at TCSoA.
This is a full-time, permanent post.
As the Principal Teacher of Intensive Support, you will have the opportunity to develop a programme of learning for young people with complex and enduring additional support needs that will facilitate them achieving their learning goals as they progress through secondary education.
You will work closely with colleagues in the support faculty (Principal Teacher of Pupil Support and Principal Teachers of Guidance) and with a range of partner agencies who will be part of the team around the child or young person.
You will also have responsibility for a team of staff which will grow and adapt as the needs of the intensive support provision changes.
This promoted post carries significant leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, lead the ISP team, and monitor the quality of learning and teaching to ensure continuous improvement across all aspects of the ISP.

About the School
The Community School of Auchterarder is an all-through school, comprising Nursery, Primary and Secondary departments serving the community of Auchterarder and surrounding district. The newly established Intensive Support Provision will be an important and integral part of our school offer.
We have a roll of approximately 1,060 children and young people across our three current sectors.
The school is situated in a rural location, approximately 14 miles south of Perth with good road networks to the rest of Perthshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh and the central belt. Our Associated Primary Schools are Aberuthven, Blackford and Dunning.

Skills & Experience Required
Our ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about the achievement of all young people.
You should have experience of working with young people with complex needs, be an inclusive practitioner who applies the principles of GIRFEC to their work and someone who can help each young person overcome barriers to learning in order to achieve to their full potential.
The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher, with a track record of forming and developing strong relationships and collaborative working practices.
You will demonstrate sound judgement, effective decision-making, and the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks appropriately. Passionate about your work and committed to lifelong learning, you will actively pursue your own professional development.
