Abernethy Primary School
Abernethy Primary School is conveniently located just 16 minutes from Perth, offering a pleasant and easy commute through scenic surroundings.
The Pupil Support Assistant will work across all stages, from P1 to P7, supporting learners with a range of learning tasks. This includes providing assistance with literacy and numeracy development, either in small groups or on a one‑to‑one basis, following guidance from the class teacher.
The duration of this contract is expected to extend until 2 July 2026. However, due to current funding arrangements, the initial fixed‑term period will run until 31 March 2026. Applications are welcomed from candidates who wish to be considered for the full anticipated contract period.
Skills & Experience Required
As Pupil Support Assistant you will:
- be skilled in the art of supporting children with their play and learning
- directly contribute to and support colleagues in the work of the school, appropriate to the needs of our young pupils and their families
- be able to 'think on your feet' and enjoy a varied role being cognisant of the team aspect of supporting learners' needs
- prioritise meeting the needs of our learners and be genuinely interested in supporting young children to achieve their best
- have excellent communication skills and be a 'team player'.
- contribute to the team through a positive relationship based on trust and respect.
- will have a good sense of humour and be able to demonstrate your skills in a fun, caring, committed manner with a dedicated approach to the job.
The suitable candidate will be able to follow instructions but also recognise the times for adapting plans to suit the needs of the learner. They will have excellent personal communication skills and be able to form positive relationships with students based on respect and trust. A good sense of humour is essential, as are your levels of confidence and appropriate assertive leadership.
