This role, based within the Local Taxes team in Pullar House, will assist in providing an effective and efficient service to our Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates customers and assist the Council in maximising its income from these sources.
The main function is to ensure that all Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates records are correct in order that the right bill gets to the right person as soon as possible.
It will comprise of a wide range of activities including the input, collation and retrieval of information from various computerised systems, and responding to customer enquiries via correspondence and by answering telephone calls.
The post may also, in time, require the successful candidate to provide a face-to-face service for customers visiting the office.
The post holder will also assist with a range of administrative functions conducted within the Revenues, Benefits and Welfare service.
Skills & Experience Required
We need you to have a positive approach to working flexibly, willingly and co-operatively.
You will also have experience of using computer databases, have good communication skills and give a high quality customer service.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a fast-paced customer focussed environment and have knowledge or experience of local taxation, such as Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates.
A knowledge of wider welfare benefit/support schemes and/or experience in collection of outstanding sums due would also be advantageous.
Although the post is stated as being based in Pullar House it is anticipated that home working will be necessary therefore you will require suitable IT skills and the ability to work, with appropriate support and training, with a high degree of independence.
