New Rannoch Centre, Perth

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a new employee to join the team at New Rannoch Day Centre which is a busy and vibrant community hub that supports older people to lead active and valued lives. We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and reliable person to join our team as a Social Care Officer.

The building has a dementia friendly design with extensive outside space for activities. The underlying focus of the role is based on enabling individuals to achieve goals which are meaningful to them and to encourage people to recognise that they have the right and potential to lead a full and rewarding life.

Your duties will include Supporting clients to achieve their individual outcomes through creativity and choice. This could be clients who are living with various physical and mental health conditions including clients living with Dementia. Part of the role also includes supporting clients with personal care and medication.  

The centre is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm and a flexible approach to your hours is required to work in partnership with the current staff team rotas.

The successful candidate must be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and others to ensure shared goals are achieved. You will be expected to take responsibility for yourself, customers/service users, contractors and others and ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation. You would be expected to promote and act as role model for the Council’s values and commitment to equality and diversity. Promoting positive values and anti-discriminatory, non-judgmental practice and treat colleagues and customers with dignity and respect. 

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a comprehensive training programme which will include health and safety, and dementia awareness.

The Individual

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible and creative thinking individuals to join our team within New Rannoch Centre as a Social Care Officer.

The person must be committed in supporting individuals to meet their full potential and achieve positive wellbeing whilst promoting independence and social inclusion. You will be responsible for a small number of clients enabling each individual to achieve their desired outcomes while also supporting any family members/carers.

Ideally you will have an interest in, and flair for, facilitating activities such as music, art, craftwork, cooking and gardening and be able to support people with varying abilities to participate in these popular activities.

SVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care is desirable. A current full driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive our pool car and minibus.
