Do you hold a C1 + E driving Licence? If the answer is yes, then this could be the job for you.

Perth & Kinross Council aims to work with the residents of the Perth & Kinross area to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill and offer recycling opportunities wherever possible.

The overall purpose of the job includes the day-to-day operation of the post holders allocated vehicle, supervision of staff within the activities operating under your control, the collection and delivery of various types of materials associated with the Councils street sweeping, recycling centres and recycling points.

You will drive various types of vehicles, including Tipmasters with trailer. Your duties include the day-to-day operation of the allocated vehicle and operating the ancillary equipment.

Whilst not driving, you will undertake ancillary duties as appropriate to the type of work carried out by the Environment Service such as refuse and litter collection, and other Environment Services duties.

A valid UK driving licence and C1+E driving licence with full CPC is essential for this post.

In order to comply with Road Transport Regulations and to provide a continuous service over 7 days, shift patterns are in place. The shift pattern for this post will be Friday – Monday, 36 hours.

You will also be included in the Winter standby rota and will be available to work additional hours, outside normal working hours. Some works are planned in advance, but some may be unforeseen, in which case short term availability may be required at short notice.

Skills & Experience Required

You will bring a positive energy; have the ability to work well as part of a team.  

You will have a full driving licence and C1+E driving licence with full CPC, enabling you to drive other vehicles as necessary.

You will be aware of Health & Safety legislation, you will have effective visual skills with the ability to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians, you will have the ability to carry out vehicle inspections, ensuring that your vehicle is safe to drive and meets all legal requirements.  

You will have the ability to operate a tachograph and to navigate in and around the Perth & Kinross area.
