We are seeking an experienced practitioner to join our Blairgowrie Social Work Team. This is a pivotal role where you will lead and support a team of dedicated Social Workers and Senior Social Care Officers to deliver high-quality services that safeguard and promote the welfare of children and families within a rural locality setting.
As Team Leader, you will provide professional leadership, supervision, direction and guidance, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice standards. You will work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for those children at risk of harm and support, working with families on both a voluntary and statutory basis. You will also contribute to the improvement agenda, building and retaining community relations with partner agencies and develop your team plan to meet the necessary improvement goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Social Workers and Senior Social Care Officers within a locality team.
- Provide regular supervision, mentoring, and performance management.
- Ensure timely and effective responses to child protection concerns.
- Oversee complex cases and support decision-making in line with legislation and policy.
- Provide oversight and case direct for cases subject to Looked After status and Permanence planning.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice.
- Contribute to service development and quality assurance processes.

Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified Social Worker with current registration. Hold a post qualifying Child Protection certificate or be willing to undertake this.
- Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice.
- Have the capacity to develop and instil a team ethos which encourages commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions in complex situations.
- Be flexible, supportive and approachable.
- Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

This role requires you to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), as a Social Worker. Then for management certification, if you are not yet registered, you can still apply, as long as you are willing to apply for registration within the required timescales.
