Reporting to the Street Lighting Superintendent you will assist in identifying, programming and designing street lighting and illuminated sign maintenance works. You will also assist in the supervision of new works carried out by Tayside Contracts.
The post holder will assist in undertaking a range of duties and responsibilities associated with all aspects of workload within the Street Lighting Partnership.
Your duties will include:
- Having flexibility to provide support across the Street Lighting Partnership area where the needs and demands require this, to improve resilience, efficiency and effectiveness as we work towards common outcomes.
- Assisting with Routine Maintenance, Capital Works and Illuminated Signs activities.
- Monitoring, inputting and updating records within the Street Lighting asset management system.
- Assisting in preparing a list of annual and future years street lighting planned maintenance works based on inspections and interrogation of the asset management system.
- Following training, assisting in preparing lighting and electrical designs for the works identified.
- Following training, assisting in responding to Planning Applications and Road Construction Consent requests.
- Book programmed works via the Aurora slot booking system and assist in the supervision of the programmed maintenance works by Tayside Contracts.
- Responding to Customer Care and Public Utility enquiries.
- Liaising with Scottish & Southern Energy for new connections, faults and planned maintenance.
- Programming SSE works on site as required.

Skills & Experience Required
You will have good general education. Ideally Higher Grade English and Mathematics and NC modules or equivalent in relevant disciplines.
You will be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office software.
You will have the ability to inspect road lighting apparatus.
You will have the ability to have a flexible approach to working hours or location, and to the varying duties of the post.
You will have the ability to make decisions based on research and the application of relevant statutory regulations.
You will have the ability to resolve problems independently and/or refer if necessary.
Ideally you will have previous experience within a Local Government Roads Authority environment.
You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
