Main Purpose of the Role

Working within Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job, it's about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch.

We currently have the following opportunity:

Vehicle Mechanic / Technician - PKC14088
£34,424 - £37,784
Friarton Depot, Perth

Are you an experienced HGV Mechanic looking for a new opportunity? Are you motivated, forward-thinking and a good team player? If so, we would like to hear from you.

Perth & Kinross Council is seeking a time-served Mechanic/Technician to join our Fleet Management team. You will be responsible for carrying out the repair and maintenance of heavy goods and light vehicles, ensuring the Council's fleet is maintained to both DVSA and Perth & Kinross Council standards.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team providing an essential service that supports the delivery of Council services across Perth and Kinross.

Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship for this post.

Skills & Experience Required

You should have experience working in the motor trade as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic or Technician, together with relevant mechanical qualifications, such as City & Guilds Parts 2 and 3. A working knowledge of hydraulic repairs is also required.

You must hold a current and valid driving licence. A C+E entitlement would be desirable but is not essential, although you should be willing to work towards obtaining this qualification.

You will have the ability to work effectively within a busy and demanding environment, managing your workload and contributing positively to team objectives to meet deadlines.

We can offer you a range of employee benefits, including membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, generous annual leave entitlement, and a variety of health and wellbeing initiatives. We are committed to investing in our employees through training and development opportunities and value the contribution our staff make.

You will be part of a hardworking and supportive team with a good sense of humour, working in a positive environment where your skills and experience are valued.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to undertake a practical workshop assessment.

The workshop operates a shift system consisting of early and back shifts, Monday to Friday, and the successful candidate will be required to participate in these working patterns.
