Renfrewshire Council is seeking to recruit an experienced Fleet and Sustainable Transport Manager, who will be responsible for operator licence compliance, workshops, vehicle replacement programme and other longer term fleet projects.

 

You will support the Senior Operations Manager in the strategic management and co-ordination for the delivery of the Council Fleet Services that achieve best value and deliver an efficient, sustainable, safe and customer focussed service.

 

It is essential that you are educated to Degree level or have a relevant appropriate professional qualification or evidence of professional competence and skill gained over an appropriate period of time and have the Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage Operations (CPC) together with experience of working strategically with key partners to develop and deliver services, managing budgets across a range of diverse business units and a successful track record of leading/supporting strategic change, service delivery and service improvements including culture change and team building

 

Knowledge of the statutory and legislative requirements of the service and relevant national and local programmes and frameworks, knowledge and understanding of public and social transportation, strategic and operational knowledge of fleet asset management and operator license holder requirements are also essential.

 

You must be able to demonstrate significant leadership and management skills corporately and in front line and service delivery areas and have the ability to lead and manage a diverse range of services, and to adapt to a changing job scope and remit as services develop.

 

You will have effective project management, communication, influencing and report writing skills. You will have regular contact with a range of stakeholders including elected members, senior internal staff, operational staff and regulatory authorities. You will further lead on the development of a Net Zero plan for decarbonisation of the Council Fleet.
