Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority, established in accordance with The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995. The Joint Board is responsible for providing professional valuation and electoral registration services within the jurisdictions of Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde Councils. This encompasses the compilation and maintenance of Valuation Rolls, Council Tax Valuation Lists, and Registers of Electors.

Role Overview: Clerical Assistant

 

The Clerical Assistant will undertake a comprehensive range of clerical work of a responsible nature associated with the compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll, Council Tax Valuation List and Electoral Register and work within well-established parameters.

 

Key tasks will include the processing of; registration changes from rolling registration and annual canvass forms; applications received from Absent Voters, Overseas Electors, Service Electors, and Declaration of Local Connection Electors; information received from Register of Scotland and Unitary Authorities and valuation roll and council tax valuation list changes in line with the Board’s statutory duties. You will also operate a range of in-house computer systems and deal with enquiries both by telephone and at reception from members of the public and elected members.

 

Person Specification

 

  • Applicants must have experience of working with numerical data and of using a range of software packages for word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Proven experience of working with a variety of service users and meeting their needs.
  • Organisational, communication and customer service skills are essential.
  • Applicant must also be self-motivated, flexible to meet service demands and work well as part of the team.
  • The ability to work to strict deadlines and legislative timetables is also essential.
  • Desirable to have an SVQ Level 2 or equivalent in an Administration related subject, experience of working within an office environment and of utilising Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to prioritise workload is also desirable as well as being a car owner with the ability to use a car for business use.
