Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board is an independent public authority that was established by The Valuation Joint Boards (Scotland) Order 1995. The Joint Board is responsible for providing professional valuation and electoral registration services within the jurisdictions of Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde Councils. This encompasses the compilation and maintenance of Valuation Rolls, Council Tax Valuation Lists, and Registers of Electors.

Role Overview: Property Assistant

Based in Paisley the successful candidate will assist the Joint Board’s Valuation Team in the administration and undertaking of inspections of lands and heritages within the Board’s geographical area for the purposes of the Lands Valuations Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992.

 

You will assist a qualified or other suitably experienced member of the Valuation Team in maintaining a portfolio of survey work under appropriate supervision, which also involves analysing sales of domestic properties. You will be responsible for maintaining all property files to an appropriate standard by writing survey reports, drawing plans, undertaking complex drawings and calculating areas and you should have a high standard of report writing/presentational skills.

 

A full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes with appropriate car insurance is essential for this role.

 

Person Specification

Essential Skills to apply for this post are:

  • Experience of using a range of software packages e.g. spreadsheets, word documents.
  • Proven experience in working with a variety of service users and meeting their needs.
  • Literacy and numeracy capabilities as well organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to work to as part of a team.
  • Experience of prioritising tasks.
  • A car owner with a full driving licence and use of a car for work.

Desirable skills to apply of this post are:

  • National 5 in English or Maths, an equivalent qualification would also be considered
  • Experience in the measurement and/or calculation of properties.
  • Preparation of basic layout plans.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to prepare basic layout sketches.
  • Effective report writing.
  • Ability to work to strict timetables.
  • Able to analyse data.
