Role Purpose

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support and advice to the departments Managers on all matters relating to business requirements through knowledge and understanding of their specific businesses ensuring compliance with Council policy.
- Line manage a team to provide support ensuring their work is of a high quality and standard. Adhere to relevant HR guidelines and policies.
- Assist with the provision, efficient recording and monitoring of relevant Information ensuring compliance with relevant corporate policies, financial regulations and guidance.
- Prepare and produce timeous and accurate performance and management reports, and statistical and statutory returns for the department using various sources of information. Research, analyse and interpret the information, highlight trends and report on its meaning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, sharing knowledge and information with others to develop colleagues and remove the risk of single points of failure and ensure good use of resources.
- Deploy staff resources reactive to departmental change in an efficient manner, resolving situations effectively and adopting a flexible approach.
- Assist in the review of process and procedures, undertake business process re-engineering to promote continuous improvement and best practice ensuring a standardised approach.
- Contribute to the maintenance, development and testing of relevant management information systems.
- Participate in the Admin Assistant Peer Group to enable sharing of knowledge, best practice, improved communication and the efficient use of resources.
- Promote a focused attitude and flexible approach when dealing with the requirements of internal and external customers
- Assist the relevant Business Services Officer in specific disciplines and represent them in internal groups as and when required.
- Work collaboratively as part of the wider department, supporting colleagues to achieve departmental objectives and represent the Business Services Officer in his/her absence, as required.
- Undertake Performance Review and Development (PRD) and promote staff development and training.
- Identify training requirements/needs that will enable staff to reach the required standards of skill and knowledge to deliver their roles effectively and ensure development opportunities are provided where possible.
- Participate in all learning and development activities necessary to achieve personal and team performance objectives and targets.
- Ensure that all the work and outputs comply with and promote equal opportunities and diversity.
- Ensure the effective management of health & safety within the area of responsibility, for employees and anyone else affected by the work activities, through the implementation and compliance with health & safety policies, procedures and arrangements.

It is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake such other duties as may be required by the Depute Chief Executive to meet the needs and responsibility of the Department and the Council.

Essential

HNC/D in a related discipline, or other relevant qualification OR equivalent relevant experience, knowledge and skills necessary to undertake the role
