Role Purpose

Scottish Borders Council’s in-house contracting division, SBC Contracts, is looking to recruit an Assistant Specialist Services Manager to support the delivery of surfacing, patching and surface dressing programmes across the region.
Working within a busy operational team, you will play a key supporting role in the planning, programming and coordination of both internal council works and external commercial projects, ensuring that resources, materials and plant are effectively allocated and that all works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Liaise with internal departments, suppliers and external contractors such as Traffic management and whiteliners to coordinate works and maintain high quality standards.
Contribute to estimating and pricing activities by gathering site information and supporting project planning.


Promote health, safety and environmental best practices in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and relevant National Highways Sector Schemes

Essential

Educated to degree, HND or HNC level in a relevant discipline or evidence of comparable experience and training.
- Attain SVQ Level 4 in Highways Maintenance and Repair within 2 years of being appointed.
- Attain National Highway Sector Training Module M7 within 1 year of being appointed.

Driving Licence: A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
