Please note that the annual salary advertised is for a full-time role, based on 35.00/37.00 hours per week. If the position you are applying for is part time or you are only going to be working part of the year, i.e., a term time contract for 38 or 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis including a number of additional weeks for annual leave entitlement when the position is term time.
Recruitment Profile
The Attendance Officer will work closely with young people, parents/carers and teaching staff to ensure that all young people at Galashiels Academy attend school and will follow up on unexplained absences.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely on matters of attendance, absence and truancy, including administration, with SLT, Pastoral staff and administrative staff.
Investigate unexplained absences and period truancy using SEEMiS.
Investigate and monitor absences.
Manage First Instance Register for young people at risk.
Provide assistance and support to young people to overcome barriers to learning and participation across the school.
Assist with the supervision of young people in corridors, social spaces and the school grounds during and outwith class times.
Provide administrative information and data on pupil absence to Pastoral, SLT and support staff as required. Work with SLT and Pupil Support Staff on any attendance queries. School First Aider.
Essential
4 Standard Grades or equivalent (General level 3 or above) including English and Maths.
