Role Purpose

We’re looking for a reliable and detail‑focused Vehicle Cleaner to join the council’s Passenger Transport Team. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our buses and pool vehicles are cleaned, sanitised, and ready to provide safe, comfortable, and dependable transport for staff and passengers.

If you take pride in maintaining high standards and enjoy hands‑on work, this is a great opportunity to support an essential public service.

What You’ll Do:

Clean the interior and exterior of buses and pool cars, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping surfaces, and removing litter.

Carry out regular sanitisation of high‑touch areas to maintain hygiene and safety.

Replenish vehicle supplies such as cleaning products, hand sanitiser, and disposable items.

Report any defects, damage, or maintenance issues promptly to your supervisor.

Use cleaning equipment and materials safely and store them securely.

Follow all health and safety procedures, including correct PPE use and safe chemical handling.

Work closely with operational teams to ensure vehicles are ready for scheduled use.

What You’ll Bring:

Experience in cleaning, vehicle preparation, or facilities work (desirable but not essential).

Ability to work independently, manage your time, and follow cleaning schedules.

Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards.

Good understanding of health and safety practices.

Reliability, punctuality, and a positive approach to teamwork.

Working Conditions:

The role involves physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Shift patterns may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on operational needs.

You may be expected to move Pool Cars around locations throughout the Borders

Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a supportive and dedicated Passenger Transport Team that keeps essential council services running smoothly.

Your work will directly contribute to a safe and comfortable environment for everyone who relies on our vehicles.
