Role Purpose

Scottish Borders Council wishes to add a valuable new post of Climate Resilience Officer to its Sustainability Team. The postholder will lead the co-ordination of Council, partner and stakeholder activity to increase the climate resilience of the Scottish Borders. This will encompass internal Council service resilience, collaboration on the planning and delivery of activity across local and national partners and with local communities, with a principal focus on climate change adaptation activity. This will involve developing, delivering and supporting engagement on climate resilience projects across internal and external audiences, integrating activity across current and planned programmes.

The rural geography of the area requires that significant emphasis is placed on nature-based solutions to support climate resilience. Therefore, a core element of the role will focus on strategic natural capital opportunities, with the post being responsible for both strategic planning of required activity and support for project delivery.

Essential

Educated to degree level in a related discipline, e.g. environmental/ecological science, land management, agriculture, or significant relevant demonstrable experience.

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.

* If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role.
