Role Purpose
Scottish Borders Council is seeking a Finance Technician to join our Financial Services team, providing high‑quality technical support and ensuring the accurate production of financial information essential to effective budget management.
In this key role, you’ll support departmental managers, contribute to revenue and capital budget processes, and help maintain robust financial controls across the organisation. You will bring strong analytical skills, experience of accounting systems, and the ability to work collaboratively across services.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Membership of AAT, HNC Accounting, SVQ3 or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years’ experience in a financial or accounting environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, budget preparation and monitoring
- Experience using financial systems, ideally Business World
- Excellent communication, integrity, and a customer‑focused approach

Essential
Membership of AAT, HNC in accounting, SVQ3 (or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience.
