Please note that the annual salary advertised is for a full-time role, based on 35.00/37.00 hours per week. If the position you are applying for is part time or you are only going to be working part of the year, i.e., a term time contract for 38 or 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis including a number of additional weeks for annual leave entitlement when the position is term time

Recruitment Profile

The Food Technician will help to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Home Economics department within the school.
They will work closely alongside the Home Economics Teachers in ensuring health and safety regulations are met and all lessons are fully resourced and prepared for.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Preparation of equipment and ingredients for demonstration, class practical work, assessments and examinations.
• To ensure that utensils and equipment are clean and ready for the start of each lesson.
• To ensure equipment, electrical connections and other materials are left/stored in a safe and secure condition, ready for re-use.
• To organise delivery slots for ingredients and consumables in advance and complete a shopping order weekly, flagging any issues with ingredients to the HE teachers.
• To assist in maintaining records of equipment and materials, including inventories and records of breakages.
• To unpack and check orders of equipment and food.
• Purchase consumables from local shops if required.
• Complete necessary purchasing and finance forms (with Suzanne Cowe)
• Monitor and manage stock, undertaking audits as required.
• Freeze and defrost foods as necessary to minimise food wastage.
• Stock rotation • To clean apparatus as directed and to clear out cupboards etc. to monitor contents and condition of stock.
• To provide cleaning and practical support to the HE teachers between lessons.
• Work on your own initiative and plan and prioritise your work effectively.
• Laundry.
• Ensure that fridges, cookers and equipment are kept clean and that a deep clean is undertaken when required.
• Defrost fridge and freezer when required.
Ensure that all equipment is accounted for, in the correct place and replaced where necessary.

• To contribute to safe working practice in preparation/storage/teaching areas.

Essential

• Evidence of a successful school career – particularly in areas of numeracy.
