Role Purpose

Are you ready to kick-start your career in Human Resources and make a real difference across the Scottish Borders Council? We’re offering a fantastic Modern Apprenticeship opportunity for a motivated individual to join our HR Case Management Team.

This is a unique chance to be part of a dedicated 2-year project focused on improving attendance across the Council. You’ll gain hands-on experience, develop key HR skills, and work alongside experienced professionals who will support your growth every step of the way.

Role Purpose

As part of the apprenticeship you will be required to engage with a training provider to obtain the desired qualification in Business Administration and have regular meetings with the supervisor and/or assessor.

What you’ll be doing -
Support managers in applying our Attendance Management Policy, helping to reduce absences and promote wellbeing.
Assist in analysing absence data and identifying trends and potential solutions.
Contribute to providing HR support and guidance to managers.
Gain experience in HR casework, including:
- Investigations
- Disciplinary and grievance procedures
-Capability and conduct matters

What you’ll learn -
Practical HR skills and knowledge aligned to a nationally recognised qualification in Business and Administration. This will be via on the job and formal training sessions to establish knowledge and understanding.
Confidence in handling sensitive and complex employee relations issues.
Communication, coaching, and advisory skills in a professional setting.

Commitment to completing the apprenticeship programme.

Essential

In accordance with Government Guidelines, you will need to be aged 16-24 (at the point of starting the scheme) to qualify for this position

National 4 or 5 in English and Maths.

Core skills required for the Modern Apprenticeship Framework.

Any other qualifications relevant to the post.
