Role Purpose

A temporary opportunity has arisen for a Senior Building Standards Surveyor, based at Council headquarters in Newtown St. Boswells. The role offers a diverse workload, real influence on quality and safety in the built environment, a strong focus on professional development as well as flexible working to support your work-life balance.

The Scottish Borders is on an ambitious growth journey, and you can be part of it. This is a unique opportunity to build a rewarding career in Building Standards while living and/or working in an area of Scotland that offers easy access to Edinburgh and the North of England, alongside outstanding natural landscapes, affordable living and strong local communities.

With significant investment coming into the region, including the Centre Parcs development near Hawick, new housing sites and town centre regeneration, there is real momentum behind creating sustainable, high-quality places.

For Building Standards Surveyors this means exposure to major strategic developments and inward investment; opportunities to support housing growth and place-based regeneration and the chance to play a key role in delivering the region’s economic and community ambitions.

If you’re looking for a role where you can broaden your experience and be part of a supportive and ambitious service, this is it.

You should hold a BSc in Building Surveying or equivalent and have membership Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or equivalent.

Informal enquiries may be made to David Smith (01835) 825022 or David McKinlay (01835 825212).
