Role Purpose
Scottish Borders Council are looking for a dynamic Officer to support the delivery of our growing Economic Development Portfolio. With a focus on “Place”, the successful candidate will support communities to develop and deliver projects and programmes that deliver sustainable economic benefits for their towns. Working with Partners and Third Sector organisations to ensure communities are supported to develop their own resilience by building capacity within them to allow them to develop and deliver their own action plans in the future.
Candidates will be able to evidence strong communication skills with a personable character that can coach and lead communities to deliver successful projects. Experience of delivering successful projects and programmes, particularly pertaining to Capital infrastructure is desirable.
Some evening meetings may be required to facilitate conversations with volunteers in the community. A hybrid working option is considered for this role. May also consider part-time/flexible hours to accommodate the right candidate.
The post is a 1-year fixed contract with opportunities for extending if additional funding becomes available. It is a very busy and exciting time to work with a team who are delivering significant economic benefits across the region.
Essential
Degree or diploma in a subject relevant to Economic Development (eg Economics, Business Studies, Marketing, Construction, Architecture, Energy, Digital, Planning ) or equivalent relevant work experience; Ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
