Role Purpose

Scottish Borders Council is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic officer to develop and support projects and programmes as part of an established Economic Development Investment Team. The council is committed to delivering regeneration and growth whilst tackling local inequalities and poverty and promoting Community Wealth Building and a sense of Place, across the region. Now is an exciting time to join a dynamic team who are delivering results and making a difference. The team is responsible for developing. managing, co-ordinating and monitoring, the development and delivery of Capital Projects included in the Borderlands Growth Deal and Edinburgh City and Region deal as well as many more UK and Scottish Government Investment Programmes. The post holder would ideally be experienced in developing and managing regeneration and infrastructure Projects with a relatable background in Project Management including Construction, Engineering, Digital or Energy. We will also consider those with excellent Community Stakeholder Management skills and experience in developing projects within a community environment with a Place focus. Candidates that have substantial experience working in a similar local authority role are encouraged to apply. A good knowledge of Net Zero and climate change legislation is welcome. The successful candidate will often be part of multidisciplinary teams, sometimes in a lead role, so should be confident and have excellent communication skills. You should be educated to SVQ 4, HND or degree level and have experience in developing and implementing regeneration projects including developing and assessment of business cases to HM Treasury Green Book standard.

Essential

Degree or diploma in a subject relevant to Economic Development (eg Economics, Business Studies, Marketing, Construction, Architecture, Energy, Digital, Planning ) or equivalent relevant work experience; Ongoing commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
