Role Purpose

Scottish Borders Council is seeking to appoint a permanent Senior Financial Analyst to join our Statutory Reporting and Treasury Management team. This is a key role supporting the delivery of high-quality statutory reporting services for the Council, including preparation of the Council’s Annual Accounts, completion of statutory returns to the Scottish Government, and leadership of the annual external audit process.

Reporting to the Statutory Reporting Business Partner, the post currently has line management responsibility for one member of staff. The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified and will bring experience of producing financial statements for large, complex organisations, ideally within the public sector. They will also be able to demonstrate strong organisational, analytical and communication skills, together with a commitment to using digital technologies to improve efficiency, governance and service delivery. Those on a career pathway where they have years of practical experience and made significant progress towards obtaining a relevant financial qualification will also be considered.

A restructure of the Statutory Reporting and Treasury Management team is currently underway, making this an exciting opportunity to help shape the future team structure, working practices and use of technology in this area. The role would suit a proactive and adaptable finance professional who can work flexibly, lead by example and support continuous improvement.

As a member of the Statutory Reporting and Treasury Management team, the postholder will be expected to deliver agreed objectives within set timescales, contribute to effective governance and assurance, and work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider directorate and Council.

CCAB Qualified accountant.
