Role Purpose

Do you believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe, stable and loving family? Scottish Borders Council is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Senior Social Worker to join our Family Placement Team and help shape the lives of children and young people through fostering, adoption and permanence planning.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in recruiting, assessing and supporting foster carers and adopters, promoting high-quality family placements and ensuring children's needs remain at the centre of all decision-making. Alongside holding a complex caseload, you will provide professional guidance, supervision and support to colleagues, helping to develop practice and maintain high standards across the service. The successful candidate will bring energy, compassion and professional curiosity to the role, helping to develop and sustain family-based care options that enable children and young people to flourish. We are looking for someone who is passionate about relationship-based practice, committed to The Promise and dedicated to helping children achieve the stability, belonging and lifelong relationships they need to thrive. If you are ready to make a lasting difference for children and families, we would love to hear from you.

At Scottish Borders Council, we value diversity and recognise that flexibility helps people thrive at work. We welcome conversations about flexible working arrangements and encourage applications from individuals seeking greater flexibility in how they work.
