Scottish Borders Council is looking for a solicitor to join the Property and Licensing Group in our Legal team. The team places a strong emphasis on work/life balance and offers flexible working on a hybrid model.
The work is varied, and a high level of responsibility will be given, together with appropriate team support and training. This is a full time post and we would be happy to consider full time, part time and job sharing applications.
Applications would also be welcome from those nearing the end of their traineeship, The post involves working closely with colleagues across many parts of the Council and is an excellent opportunity for candidates with an interest in being an integral part of the Council's operations. The role will be varied, and the successful candidate will develop expertise across many areas of law, in particular commercial property, licensing and committee work.
There will also be opportunities to gain expertise in commercial contracts, procurement, data protection and freedom of information. The successful candidate will also gain membership to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Essential

Qualified Solicitor holding (or eligible to hold) an unrestricted practising certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland, or a second year trainee nearing the end of their traineeship and holding a restricted practising certificate.
Continual professional development as required by the Law Society of Scotland
