Role Purpose

PURPOSE
To teach assigned classes and carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies and under the direction of the headteacher. On a Monday and Friday, you will be class committed. On a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday you will have responsibility to lead Nurture across the school.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach assigned class together with associated preparation and correction

• Play a part in developing school curriculum as appropriate to the School Improvement Plan and other identified areas

• Assess, record and report on the work of pupils

• Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education

• Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils

• Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals

• Undertake appropriate and agreed continuing professional development

• Participate in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual pupil review

• Contribute to community and corporate aspects of school life

Tuesday to Thursday, the post holder will also have responsibility for leading Nurture across the school; including planning and tracking the impact of a broad, balanced and appropriate range of learning experiences, for small groups of children.

It would be useful for the post holder to have some experience of nurture or nurturing approaches; however appropriate training will be given to ensure the efficacy of the role.

Essential

Primary or Secondary teaching qualification and full registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
