The Business Support Administrator is responsible for providing a comprehensive administrative and secretarial support service to the Executive Managers – Schools, and Quality Improvement. The post holder will be required to liaise with a wide range of senior managers and Elected Members, as well as senior officers from agencies out with the Local Authority, and members of the general public. The post holder will be required to have a sound working knowledge of the organisation and the political environment it operates within. The main duties of the post include:

  • To pro-actively manage and oversee all aspects of the day-to-day running of the Executive Managers’ diaries, and those of other officers, ensuring that all relevant papers, briefings and other information for meetings, conferences, seminars etc are prepared and ready in time; management of the Executive Managers’ email boxes;
  • To ensure efficient office support systems are in place which are consistent with Council policies and standards;
  • To co-ordinate relevant documentation relating to Children’s Services e.g. coordinated support plans, school exclusions, Placing Requests, Child Protection Referral Forms;
  • To maintain a comprehensive filing system for Children’s Support Plans, School Development Plans, Improvement Plans, Complaints, Sickness, Placing Requests, GIRFEC Information, Exclusions etc;
  • To be the first point of contact in the Executive Managers’ office for dealing with queries, referring to others as appropriate;

  • The grade of this post is H
  • Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,742 per annum
  • Temporary Full Time post for 37.0 Hours per Week , 52.18 weeks per year
  • Temporary contract for a period of approximately 11 months.
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
  • We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
