Advertisement Details

This is a unique role whereby the post holder is responsible for directly supporting a small local island community. The Community Handyperson is responsible for providing a front-line maintenance service for the Shetland Islands Council.

We are looking for someone who has the appropriate knowledge to complete semi-skilled work in Council properties, piers and outdoor spaces.

This role will require the post holder to work independently, working alongside a number of different teams and services across the Council to deliver services in a small island community. The post holder will therefore require to demonstrate the right people skills - flexible, approachable and has a willingness to help others, and who is capable of using their initiative to plan their own workload.

  • The grade of this post is G
  • Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro rata)
  • Permanent Part Time post with a minimum of 22 hours per week with the opportunity of up to 37 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.
