As a Modern Apprentice Joiner you will be supported to gain the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities to become a qualified joiner providing an effective repairs and planned maintenance service to council housing and buildings.

A modern apprenticeship with the Council offers the chance to gain a nationally recognised qualification and develop practical skills in a supported public sector environment.

Apprentices work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to essential services while receiving structured training, mentoring, and strong health and safety support. It provides a solid foundation for long term career progression, transferable skills, and meaningful employment serving the local community.

• Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,997 per annum (pro rata)
• Full time 4 year apprenticeship
• Fixed Term post, 37 hpw, 52.18 weeks per year
• A relocation package does not apply to this post
• We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
• We are happy to talk flexible working
