The Modern Apprentice – Professional Cookery will be primarily based at the Anderson High School, Lerwick, but blocks of time will be spent at various other school locations to broaden their experience across the whole school meal service. The purpose of the role is to develop the knowledge, skills and experience required to support the preparation, cooking and service of high-quality school meals. Working alongside experienced catering staff, the postholder will contribute to a modern, inclusive and sustainable school meals service that supports children’s health, wellbeing and learning. The Modern Apprentice will, over a period of 2 years complete the SVQ Professional Cookery (SCQF5) and gain practical experience in several school kitchens.

• The grade of this post is SLGLW - AB1
• Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour
• 2 x Temporary Term Time Part Time posts for 25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, plus 6.24 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday to be taken during school holidays.
• Temporary contracts for a period of 2 years
• Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
• A relocation package does not apply to this post
• We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
