Advertisement Details

The post holder reports to the Programme Manager of Children’s Social Work and is responsible through the Fairer Futures Systems Change Board for undertaking a range of activities timeously contributing to the successful completion of Shetland’s GIRFEC Refocus project. The post holder is responsible for leading and developing on the aims and objectives of the GIRFEC Refocus project, which will review and support the refreshing of the local approach to Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC), strengthening how it is understood, applied and experienced by children, families and practitioners. The post holder will undertake research and analysis activities to support the overall management of the project including service development and improvements.

The post holder will be expected to work with a significant degree of autonomy, driving the project forward to ensure that agreed milestones and objectives are delivered on time and in budget.

The postholder will need to demonstrate curiosity and an appreciation of differing professional and organisational cultures, in order to build interagency commitment to improving local GIRFEC practice. Knowledge and application of recognised improvement methodology, such as the Scottish Approach to Change and Quality Improvement, is advantageous, alongside flexible project management skills.

  • The grade of this post is J
  • Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour
  • Temporary Part Time post for up to 30 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year
  • Temporary contract until 31 March 2028
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
  • A relocation package does not apply to this post
  • We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland
  • You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice and where public transport is limited
