ABOUT US

APPRENTICE PPROPERTY SURVEYOR (COUNCIL TAX)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a new team of apprentice surveyors, leading to a formal Level 3 Diploma qualification and Associate Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

The Assessor for Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is responsible for compiling and maintaining the Valuation List, consisting of all dwellings in Ayrshire liable for Council Tax, and is seeking talented individuals who are looking to embark on a long-term career in property.

You will “learn while you earn”, being provided with dedicated “on the job” training, with a view to embarking on a NVQ Level 3 Surveying Technician Diploma qualification, carried out by our partners in Jace Training. This learning will take place remotely, and you will have the support of your colleagues and fellow candidates.

Following completion of your Diploma, you will go on to become an Associate Member of the prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

You will inspect / survey residential properties, interpret sales evidence, and carry out statutory valuations for Council Tax purposes, and, once qualified, act as “expert witness” at appeal hearings of the First Tier Tribunal.

You will be based at 9 Wellington Square, Ayr and will be expected to undertake regular travel throughout Ayrshire. It is a requirement of the post to hold a full clean driving licence and have access to a car (for business use) by completion of your apprenticeship.

We are keen to hear from applicants who are prepared to commit to a full apprenticeship programme and are interested in pursuing a long-term career within our organisation. In return, we will invest in you, help you reach your full potential, and support you throughout your career.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills with a positive, professional, and responsible attitude, coupled with the ability to multi-task. You should have the ability to work as part of a team or individually and be capable of adhering to strict deadlines.

We recognise the importance of working within a positive environment and offer outstanding terms and conditions, such as flexible working, generous annual leave entitlement and enrolment into an enviable local authority pension scheme.

If you are interested in joining our new and exciting team and having a long-term career with Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board, please complete the application form and we will be in touch with you soon. We look forward to hearing from you.
