Job Description
What is the role?
Contribute to the delivery of strategic plans and co-ordinate a range of high-quality services which ensure continuous improvement and efficiency and which drive transformational change by promoting a positive organisational culture of empowerment, innovation and change.
Ensure the effective coordination and delivery of the Building Standards function within the Planning and Building Standards Service.
The specific areas of responsibility will be determined by the Council’s priorities and may change from time to time. Currently, in addition to the principal accountabilities outlined below, this post will have responsibility for:
- Management of the Council’s Building Standards function
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Operating and Performance Frameworks for Building Standards Verifiers
- Provision of timely and accurate advice and guidance to Council staff, projects and elected members in relation to Building Standards
- Contribute to the development of eBuilding Standards
- Coordination of statistic reporting to Scottish Government
- Development of the Building Standards Annual Performance Report/Verification Improvement Plans
- Contribute to preparing the Service for the implementation of legislative changes
- Budgetary control and management of the Building Standards team
- Promotion and development of a customer and public orientated ethos within the operation of the Service
- Contributing to key stakeholder communication and engagement activities
- Management and monitoring of progress, team performance and workforce planning

Extra Information:
The Grade of this post is Grade 4 / Level 13; the hourly rate is from £30.01 to £31.87 and the annual salary is from £54,786 to £58,163.
The successful candidate will primarily work from home with occasional travel within the South Ayrshire area. Frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service.
This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007.
