Job Description
What is the role?
The Principal Teacher of Ukrainian Support is a new role created to support the demand of Ukrainian children arriving in South Ayrshire and attending schools across the authority. The role will include:
- Leadership and direction of peripatetic team of Welfare Officers and Teachers (English as Additional Language);
- Support the introduction, enrolment and holistic educational needs for Ukrainian Refugees in both primary and secondary schools;
- Responsibility for working alongside all schools in ensuring appropriate supports are in place for Ukrainian children and young people in schools and that additional agencies are informed where appropriate;
- Collaborate with SWEIC and National events in relation to Ukrainian educational support;
- Reporting to Virtual School Head Teacher.

The Grade of this post is PT3 with an annual salary of £57,282. Please note this post is temporary until 27 June 2025.
This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
