JOB DESCRIPTION

Educational psychologists provide support to young people, families, schools and the local authority to improve children’s experiences and life chances. Educational Psychology Services work with young people from birth to 19 years of age using knowledge of applied psychology, research and child development to improve outcomes. Psychologists work across 5 core functions:

• Consultation
• Assessment
• Intervention
• Training &
• Research 

Operating at the level of the child & family, school/ establishment & local authority. Psychologists work within the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) framework to support holistic assessment and intervention for young people. An Educational Psychologists Assistant will assist an Educational Psychologist with some aspects of their role in supporting young people.

REQUIREMENTS

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
